Office Move Questions

Q: Will I need to pack my own office?

A: No, the moving company will pack for you. Please shut down and disconnect all computer and printer equipment. However, the moving company will not relocate personal items (i.e. mini fridges, coffee pots, microwaves, art, plants)

Q: Will the moving company move everything?

A: No, personal appliances (i.e. mini fridges, coffee pots and microwaves), art, plants and any other personal items will not be moved by the moving company.

Q: Do I need to be present on the day of my move? 

A: No, occupants should not expect to use their old and/or new desk on move day. You may move any items on Tuesday after your office move.

Q: What do I do with my keys?

A: Keys will be available for pick up on Tuesday of each move week from 7:30am - 9:30am at the Lock shop pick up window, located in Facilities Services Building A (same location as the TAPS office). If this pick up time does not accommodate your schedule, Lock and Access has a standing key pick up times: Mon-Fri 11:00am to 12:00pm and 2:00pm - 3:00pm. 

Laboratory Move Questions

Q: Will I need to pack my own lab?

A: The moving company will pack for you. Any sensitive or special items will need to be packed by the lab occupants. Please note each lab is expected to ensure ensure all equipment is properly shutdown and disconnected prior to Monday of your move week. Glassware and equipment must be clean and ready for packing. All of these details will be discussed with each lab during the move planning meetings.A pre-move checklist will be provided to you.

Q: Do I contact manufacturers directly for moving equipment?

A: No, all required manufacturers will be contacted in advance of the move by the relocation planning team to coordinate proper preparation and post-move set up.

Q: Will my gas cylinders be relocated?

A:Yes, the cylinders in your lab will be relocated. Please make sure they are closed and disconnected before your move date. If you have cylinders at the dock, please identify the cylinders on your chemical inventory.

Q: What do I do with chemical products?

A: Please use down your chemical stock as much as feasible. All chemical products will be moved over by a professional chemical movers to provide proper and safe transport. Please ensure all of your chemicals are co-located as much as possible to ensure the mover does not miss anything. Please ensure all chemicals are properly labels. Unlabeled chemicals will not be moved.

Q:There are some items that are sensitive that I would rather move. Is that possible? 

A: Yes, please let Sara Anastos know so we are aware. Please clearly label any items that should not be relocated by the mover.

Q:When will I be able to tour my lab?

A: We are scheduling walk-throughs in the order of the move schedule. Please reach out to Sara Anastos or Robin Walker if you have any questions.

Q:Do I need to be present for my lab move?

A: We will need a representative from each lab to walk the space on Monday morning with the move team to answer any final questions. After which, you do not need to be there but we will need a point of contact and a cellphone number for any other questions.

Q:Can I be able to work in my lab after move-in?
