Move Process Map

To better understand the overall move process, please refer to the milestones outlined in the MEB Move Process Map. This will give you an overview of what’s coming up and what to expect at each stage of the move.

SSM Offices and Labs Clean Out

Understanding that many faculty have been in the SSM Building for an extended period of time, there may be materials and contents that are no longer needed and should be shredded or recycled. To help facilitate the cleanup and disposal of these materials, collection containers have been provided at multiple locations throughout SSM.

The collection locations are as follows:

  • First Floor: One trash collection location
  • Second Floor: Two trash collection locations and one shredding collection location
  • Third Floor: Two trash collection locations and one shredding collection location

Shredding bins will be emptied monthly by a third-party vendor. Trash collection areas will be checked weekly by Facilities and emptied as needed.

Surplus Process

If you have any equipment that you no longer need, please do not leave it at the trash collection locations. Equipment will not be disposed of through the regular trash collection process and must instead follow the appropriate Surplus Property Disposal Process.

To help avoid a large influx of equipment at the end of the year, especially ahead of the upcoming move, we strongly encourage you to begin the surplus process now. If you no longer need items such as monitors, laptops, computers, or any other supplies and/ or equipment, please submit a ticket for proper disposal rather than moving these items to your new location in MEB.

Please note that standard office and laboratory furniture does not follow the Surplus Property process. Items such as desks, cabinets, chairs, and other standard furniture should remain in the current office or laboratory for the next occupant. If you have any questions on this process, please email surplus@ucmerced.edu.
