Moving Boxes

MEB Move Update – September 18, 2026

Move Planning & Building Progress

All faculty and staff space assignments confirmed as of February 2026 have been actively working with PDCM on move planning. This planning has included:

  • Office and laboratory layouts
  • Furniture and equipment that will need to be relocated
  • Detailed reviews of space layouts, electrical, and data infrastructure
  • Final reviews and sign-off to support the move

Furniture installation is currently underway in the building, and construction is tracking toward completion at the end of October.

We know many of you are eager to see your new spaces. Touring the building will also provide an opportunity to become familiar with your new location and help you prepare for moving out of your current space.

PDCM is coordinating with department chairs and designated department contacts to arrange building tours beginning in mid-November. Additional information about tour scheduling will be shared as plans are finalized.

Moves are confirmed for the week of January 4, 2027. You are not to be in your lab and/ or office during the move.

Moving Supplies

Moving boxes and packing materials are anticipated to arrive on Friday, September 25, 2026, and will be delivered directly to your lab and/or office.

Materials provided will include:

  • Boxes (bundles of 10)
  • Moving labels
  • Pink bags
  • Monitor covers

Important Reminder About Moving Supplies

Please do not use project-provided boxes or moving materials to transport personal items home or for trash disposal. The project pays for these materials specifically to support the MEB move, and they will be collected after the move is complete.

If you need additional materials for personal items, editing, or items you plan to take home, please work with your department to obtain those materials.

How to Use Your Moving Labels

Moving labels are designed to be removable and can be placed directly on items that need to be moved.

Please place a moving label on:

  • Each box that will be moved
  • Monitor bases
  • Equipment or other items that need to be moved but do not fit inside a box

Completing Your Moving Label

When completing your moving labels:

  1. Write your last name across the top.
  2. Write your floor number.
  3. Write your room number.
  4. Leave the “Piece” field blank. The PDCM team will complete this field immediately before your move. The piece number will identify the total number of pieces being moved from your current space to your new space.

Label Colors Are Important

You will receive a specific color of moving label. Please use the color provided to you. Label colors are important on moving day because they identify the building where your items will be delivered and help the move team coordinate the delivery of your belongings.

If you need additional labels of your assigned color, please email moves@ucmerced.edu.

If you have both an office and a lab, you will receive two different label colors. Be sure to use the appropriate color for each space.

Already Packed? Just Label the Box.

If an item is already packed in a box, simply place a moving label on the outside of the box.

There is no need to unpack, remove, or rearrange the contents of a box simply to make an item fit.
